First Flight Announcement!   Richard Payne completed the first flight of his 7th experimental on Saturday, 11 October 2008!  1.6 un-eventful, wonderful hours on his RV-7.  Congratulations Richard!

October 18 2008,  Chapter 712 Annual Fish Fry at Pearland Regional :  Phil, Lisa, Richard Payne and I attended the Chapter 712 pot-luck fish fry at the East hangers at Pearland Regional and they have about 30+ folks out and Jay did a great job on the fish and Valerie did a great job on the burgers and dogs (we won’t mention the one conflagration of hamburger towards the end….).  Great time had by all and Alan Arnold and Valerie even gave a few airplane rides – A must do next year.

October 25 - 26, 2008 – Wings Over Houston – EAA/AIAA Ramp Information Booth on Saturday Only
,   Had a great time sharing a space with the AIAA – Houston and EAA Chapter 712 on the airshow ramp.  Had lots of people through with many feigning over Marvin Faulk’s Tinkerbell (modified Teenie 2, but the dinosaur on the top cowl mounted venture really turned some heads).  We did collect several contacts at the show and many of you are on here – welcome!  We were only out as Chapter 12 on Saturday, but Valerie and her crew were out on Sunday as well flying the flag – literally.  Thanks to Bert Wagster, Bill and Jean Johnson and the AIAA guys for all the help for a great event.  Bill Roach, Wings Over Houston Director and EAA member, was happy and encourages us to build on this and improve for a presence next year.  We can discuss at the January meeting as several members wanted to enlarge for this year, but it was a bit late.  So, come to the meetings with some ideas and we can work out with Bill and Valerie and AIAA in advance and do it nicely in Oct 09!

Membership/Publicity Idea:  Print out the attached post card and pick the Canard or RV (we can insert your airplane if it comes out in small print) and put on an old copy of Sport Aviation or another airplane magazine.  Leave it at the gym, doctor’s office, school, etc.  Keep some of the flyers on hand just in case.  If anyone has the old business card files/artwork, please get it to me so I can get some new cards printed up.  Will try and get the Chapter logo so we can get some more Chapter cards made up.
